What are politicians supposed to do in the face of pessimism? Are they supposed to keep a tight lip at every ill-conceived notion? Or should they take a more hardline approach and face issues head on?

This week was saw the outcome of such straight talk. Barack Obama mentioned the discontent of the working class with the state of the industrial job market. He made a comment about a common notion primarily from the midwest that hardworking people are facing grim prospects of in the failing domestic manufacturing sector.

The media focused on his comment regarding guns and religion. Yet they failed to acknowledge the underlying message of how people perceive the state of economic policy. They (hard working americans) turn to what they know will console them in the sight despair.

Should we bottle up our discontent in a cloud of fear or face the issues through a transparent lens?

Be open. Be happy. Be transparent.
